Some children with CP are 'vibrating' their way to stronger bones and muscles.
This type of therapy, known as Vibration Therapy, is done using a Power Plate exercise machine. The Power Plate is designed to force muscles to contract which, in turn, promotes strength and stability.
Payton White was born with CP and his mother, Deborah, was told he would never sit up, that he would have to be tube fed, and that he would need assistance for the rest of his life. Now, Payton is making progress.
The Power Plate moves in 3 different dimensions, vibrating very fast and using a gravitational pull.
Kyle Tobin is also undergoing this type of therapy. After weeks of Vibrational Therapy, Kyle's mother was called to his school. He was walking!
There are no major studies backing Vibrational Therapy and both children are also receiving additional therapy; however, Kyle and Payton's parents are pleased with the results.
