Izabela and Richard Koscielny created the TheraSuit Method®, which is a holistic approach to treatment for those afflicted with neurological disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, and Traumatic Brain Injuries.

The 'suit' includes a vest, shorts, kneepads, and shoes. The pieces are laced together with bungee-type cords which are adjustable. These cords apply varying degrees of tension to a child’s different muscle groups. By increasing the tension in one area, a child's muscles are given the strength necessary to perform certain exercises. In many ways, suit therapy is much like working out at the gym with weights.

TheraSuit® aligns the body as close to normal as possible. This reestablishes the correct postural alignment and plays a crucial role in normalizing muscle tone, sensory and vestibular function.

Intensive therapy includes stretching, strengthening and gait training.

According to their website, The TheraSuit® clinic in Keego Harbor, Michigan offers an Intensive Therapy Program for infants through adulthood with neuromuscular disorders and a variety of diagnoses. Therapy is performed on a one-on-one basis with an experienced and certified therapist. The program is 3 hrs. per day, 5 days per week for 2-4 weeks depending on the individual’s needs.

This video series, produced exclusively for CP Discovery, takes a look at Intensive Therapy Programs and their benefits for children with CP. In this segment, Pediatric Physical Therapist, Noreen Scott, gives an exclusive interview on how the TheraSuit is used and the areas it works.  We also get a chance to observe two children who use the TheraSuit in their individual therapy programs.

Noreen Scott is based in Dacula, Georgia. She owns Tender Ones Therapy Services which is one of only around 90 clinics in the US trained in the TheraSuit Method.
