Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is becoming more common in the treatment of brain injuries. In fact, many parents are opting to set up hyperbaric oxygen chambers in their own homes.
Making the decision to invest in an at-home hyperbaric chamber isn't always easy. There are preparations to be made, it is costly, and the sessions are time consuming.
Occupational Therapist, Hulet Smith, and his wife, Megan, who is a Physical Therapist, decided to buy a Vitaris 320 hyperbaric chamber for their home. Their daughter, Sophia, has Cerebral Palsy and the couple agreed that an at-home chamber would be the easiest and most cost effective way to continue her Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
The Smith's paid around $20,000.00 for this particular hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Sophia has logged more than 600 sessions inside with each session lasting about an hour.
In this interview, Hulet explains the decision to invest, shows us how this chamber works, and outlines the progress Sophia has made since undergoing HBOT.
