Doctors and patients using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat brain injuries swear by it's healing effects.

Patients undergoing this type of therapy get into an enclosed chamber for numerous sessions.  Inside the chamber, they experience the use of oxygen at a higher than atmospheric pressure.  This oxygen stimulates the brain tissue and helps with healing.  As a result, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is said to improve cognitive and social function in people with chronic brain injury.

Dr. David Steenblock of Mission Viejo explains hyperbaric oxygen therapy and demonstrates how it works.
