Low birth weight babies are often at risk of disorders like Cerebral Palsy.
Over the years, there has been some discussion amongst the experts as to whether Artificial Reproduction methods may lead to smaller babies.  In 2008, two studies were presented of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
One looked at invitro and the transfer of embryos.

Researchers compared children born from frozen embryos with those born after a fresh embryo transfer.
Children born from frozen embryos weighed more at birth than those from a fresh transfer.

According to a report on FOXNews.com:

"Embryos are sometimes kept at minus 196 degrees Celsius for up to five years before being thawed and implanted into women. Doctors are increasingly freezing embryos across Europe as a standard part of fertility treatment, and some have wondered if the procedure might be riskier than using a fresh embryo."

The report goes on to say that experts believe there is a reason why frozen embryos resulted in heavier and healthier babies.
It could be that women who produced enough eggs to freeze were probably healthier than women who only had enough embryos for a fresh transfer.
