Jaymason Bouwman was born 11 weeks premature and, as a result, lives with Spastic Cerebral Palsy. This makes his legs extremely tight and they were pulling his hips out of place.
His parents decided to try Femoral Rotational Osteotomy.
Jay underwent the surgery on September 24, 2007 at Shriner's Hospital in Portland Oregon.
This video montage, put together by his family, details the surgery, the complications, and his recovery.
Following the procedure and 4 months of therapy...Jay was able to use his walker. He will have more surgeries in the future but, for now, he is making progress.
